Steve J. Delaney began serving as Orange County Employees Retirement System’s Chief Executive Officer, on January 2, 2008, and is in fact the longest serving CEO among the 20 county retirement systems.  He has overseen the OCERS Fund as it grew from $8 billion at that time, to the nearly $23 billion fund it is today.

As CEO, Mr. Delaney oversees a full-time staff of more than 130 employees in all areas of OCERS operations, including investments, legal, financial, administrative services, communications, information technology and member services.

Before coming to OCERS, Mr. Delaney served for 15 years with the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System, with the dual role of Deputy Director, as well as the system’s Legislative Lobbyist.

Mr. Delaney holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Business Information Systems as well as a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, both from George Fox University.

Mr. Delaney, previously the President of the National Conference of State Social Security Administrators (NCSSSA), is presently on the Executive Board of the California Association of Public Employees Retirement Systems (CALAPRS), and is the Chair of the State Association of County Retirement Systems’ (SACRS) Audit Committee.
