Actuarial Cost of Early Retirement Incentive
This
information is being provided to assist Plan Sponsors who may

Pension Protection Act Update
The Hanson Bridgett law firm has prepared a Memorandum
addressing the portions of recently-approved major federal
legislation that will apply to public pensions.

provisions of the legislation that apply to our Plan Sponsors
and will be releasing more information on these changes in the
near future.
Social Security Protection Act impacts new members
Beginning January 1, 2005, any new employee who becomes a member
of OCERS must sign Form SSA-1945. An original, signed copy of
the form must be submitted by the new employee's Plan Sponsor to
OCERS before employment begins, and it should be sent along with
the Member Affidavit.

Assumptions
On May 19, 2008, OCERS' actuary presented the Board of
Retirement with a report reviewing the
December 31, 2007 economic actuarial assumptions for OCERS.

Actuarial Experience Study
On May 19, 2008, OCERS' actuary presented the Board of
Retirement with a Three-Year Experience Study detailing
non-economic factors such as mortality rates and service
retirement rates.
