bulletPosition Title: Deputy Chief Counsel

The Opportunity: OCERS is seeking to fill the position of Deputy Chief Counsel. Under the administrative direction of the Chief Legal Officer, the Deputy Chief Counsel performs the more complex and difficult legal assignments by providing legal advice and representation to OCERS and its Board of Retirement in all legal matters pertaining to the daily operations of OCERS. In the absence of the Chief Legal Officer the Deputy Chief Counsel may manage the legal division and ensure that all activities of OCERS are legally supportable and carried out in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and rules. The Deputy Chief Counsel is distinguished by the ability to perform the more complex and difficult legal assignments which require a high degree of knowledge and skill in a specialized field of law, such as: public pension law, institutional investments, family law, tax law, securities law, probate, contracts and medical-legal issues. bulletPosition Title: Retirement Program Specialist

The Opportunity OCERS is seeking a Retirement Program Specialist to perform unique duties requiring the exercise of considerable discretion and responsible decision-making in performing duties. OCERS will accept online applications from Thursday, February 23, 2017 through Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. Please apply immediately. Incumbents in this class perform unique tasks, which include the application and explanation of policies, regulations, and guidelines where interpretation and independent judgment are required. Some assignments may also require the integration of technical knowledge with interpersonal and communication skills. The incumbent will counsel and calculate benefits for members or beneficiaries on benefit options, service retirement, disability and death benefits, deferral of benefits, withdrawal and reciprocal provisions. Additionally, the incumbent will utilize OCERS pension and imaging software to access data pertaining to retired and active member accounts as well as identify problems and errors, gather and analyze data and reports containing confidential information and perform other related work as assigned. The incumbent will interact with County departments, governmental and special district representatives on issues involving member eligibility, retirement and reciprocity. bulletPosition Title: Retirement Benefit Technician

The Opportunity: OCERS is seeking to fill the position of Retirement Benefit Technician. Incumbents in this position perform technical support functions for OCERS Member Services Division, prepare correspondence confirming information and estimates of future retirement benefits, verify and/or change in beneficiary, tax withholding, Electronic Fund Transfer information, research pension information for members or beneficiaries, process paperwork to establish reciprocity, calculate service purchase contracts and respond to a high volume of phone inquiries.
