Arthur A. Hidalgo was selected by the Board of Retirement to serve as Vice Chair in December 2008. Mr. Hidalgo is currently the Chair of the Private Markets Committee, which encompasses Private Equity, Timber, Infrastructure and Real Estate. He also serves as a member of the Audit Committee.

Mr. Hidalgo is a Founding Partner of the Carpenter Community BancFund, an affiliate of Carpenter & Company, an investment banking and consulting firm serving the independent banking industry.  Carpenter & Company is noted for its particular focus on the creation, capitalization, and growth of over 500 bank start ups. Mr. Hidalgo serves on the BancFund's investment committee and provides portfolio management oversight of the Fund.  He has over 22 years in the financial services industry with experience in corporate banking, investment management and commercial real estate.

Prior to joining Carpenter & Company, Mr. Hidalgo was Vice President at Adelante Capital Management (formerly Lend Lease Rosen) a dedicated real estate securities investment management firm in Oakland, California.

Mr. Hidalgo is a native of southern California and a long time resident of Orange County.  He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Loyola Marymount University Los Angeles.
